Track client fees

Set an agreed fee, record each payment as the client pays, and read the balance on the case file. How adjustments, refunds and voided entries work.

The idea

PocketPeshi keeps a simple running ledger per case: what was agreed, what has been paid, and what is left. You record each entry when it happens, so you are never guessing a client’s balance before a hearing.

Set the agreed fee

On the case file, open the Fees section and set the agreed fee. You can also set it when you first create the case. This is the figure the balance is measured against.

Record a payment

  1. Open the case, go to Fees, and choose to add a payment.
  2. Enter the amount received and, if useful, a short note (for example “part payment, cash”).
  3. Save. The balance updates on the case file.

Recording a payment works offline — it syncs when you are back on data.

Adjustments and refunds

Use an adjustment to correct the agreed figure (a revised engagement, a written-off amount). Use a refund when money goes back to the client. Both appear as dated lines in the ledger, so the history stays honest.

Fixing a wrong entry

Entries are not deleted — a wrong one is voided, which leaves it visible but struck out and removes it from the balance. Voiding a fee entry stays with the lawyer, even on a workspace with assistants.

Seeing the whole picture

Each case carries its own ledger. Open a client to see their cases, then a case to read its fee history and current balance.
