Two ideas: rounds and stages
A matter rarely ends at one forum. PocketPeshi models its life as a series of rounds, and each round moves through stages. This keeps the whole journey on one case file instead of scattered across separate entries.
Rounds
A round is one pass through a forum. The kinds are:
- Original — the trial or first hearing of the matter.
- Appeal — a challenge to the decision before a higher forum.
- Revision — the revisional jurisdiction of a higher court.
- Review — asking the same court to reconsider its own order.
- Remand — the matter sent back to the lower forum to be decided again.
- Execution — enforcing a decree or order that has become final.
- Restored — the matter revived after being dismissed for non-prosecution or default.
- Other — anything that does not fit the list; label it yourself.
Stages
Within a round, the stage is where the matter currently is — for example notice, written statement, issues, evidence, arguments, judgment. Your workspace starts with a set of stages for each case type, and you can add your own labels when a matter does not follow the usual path.
When you record a proceeding, you set the stage for that hearing and, if it moved, the next stage. That is how the case file always shows where things stand.
Starting a new round
When a matter is disposed and then goes up on appeal, comes back on remand, or is restored, open the case and start a new round of the right kind. Give it a clear label (for example “Appeal — District Court” or “Remand — Civil Judge”), set the stage you are resuming from, and fix the next date. The earlier round stays on the file as history.
This is a description of how the app is organised, not legal advice. Terminology and procedure vary by court and by province.
